Susan the Great

Susan the Beautiful at Lavenham, Suffolk

I'd never photographed a Bernese Mountain dog before. A chance conversation lead Susan, Abby (her human sister) and me to the picturesque medieval village of Lavenham, Suffolk complete with Guildhall and crooked house. This seemed like an ideal location for a dog so magnificent. The idea was clear in my mind, take photos of beautiful Susan, draped in Christmas bows (did I mention this was just before Christmas) this added a very special touch to proceedings. Bows, yes bows. It was a sweet idea which I borrowed from the brilliant Andrew of Raven Imagery (My little chippy had recently had a very special Christmas photo session with Andrew, more on that soon. Yes I know it's January but a girls gotta catch up here!)

Back to Susan and her bows, initially the bow I chose was pink and bright, loud and proud. Miss Susan had other ideas about the situation and off came the bow with quite literally one swoop of her perfectly poised paw. It didn't matter, Susan didn't need a bow to show how beautiful she is and with the Christmas lights shining that was more then enough to make Susan sparkle.

We used the back up red ribbon which seemed to fair a little better, well done girl. She posed to perfection and made the sweetest gestures with her paw, side wards glances and star quality you'd think she had done this every day of her life. We made our way to the pretty Christmas decorations of The Great House, complete with it's own classic car which added an extra touch of glamour. Then to the stunning orange tones of Little Hall, onto the Guildhall for more magical moments, followed by the sweet Blue Vintage Tea Room. How could this photo session get any better then these stunning grade 2 listed buildings, I mean what a backdrop for such a beautiful dog.

One last stop though before we left our paw prints and hearts in this sweet magical place. The Crooked House, could this village get any more special. Well done Susan for being the best doggie model and to your human sister for getting up and out early so we could get to the village in it's quiet hours.

Here are some of the sweet moments we captured of the most beautiful dog, Oh Susan you did us proud thank you sweet girl.
